Day 3 – Negombo

On the morning of the third day we will leave Kandy and arrive at our last destination of the vacation, Negombo. Sri Lanka is an island with the ocean all around it thus it’s a must for the tourists to visit a beach. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a nursery and a captive breeding ground for the Orphaned elephants in Sri Lanka, where they will nurse the orphans back into health before releasing them back in the wild.

Once you are here you can participate in the feeding programs (the milk feeding program from 9.15 am to 9.45 am or from 1.15 pm to 1.45 pm and the Fruit feeding program from 9.00 am to9.45 am or from 12.00 pm to 1.45 pm) and witness the elephant bathing sessions from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. In addition to participating in these programs you can join hands with the orphanage to uplift this charity by donating or by adopting an elephant or any other animal and sponsoring them.

After spending some quality time we will say goodbye to the elephants and proceed with our journey to Kandy our first main destination. We will check you in the hotel and let you relax before we leave to the Kandy city tour. We will take you on a walk around the Kandy Lake and to a place where you can have a traditional meal. At night before we end the day we will take you to see a cultural dance where you can experience the Kandyan culture.

Day 2 – Kandy

On your second day you will spend more time in the beautiful city of Kandy. The first thing that we will do today is visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa) a sacred Buddhist Temple. The Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha is placed in a former palace that was built during the time when Kandy was a kingdom. Thus the temple apart from being of extreme religious value the building itself is worth the tour given is rich architecture.

After worshiping the temple we will proceed with our tour. Kandy is not just a city famous for the temples, but it is also renowned for its beautiful gardens, the hills and the stunning sceneries. Day 3 – Colombo

Surrounded by mountain ranges from all directions, the town has the Bogambara Lake right at the centre. It is also home to the sacred temple of the tooth relic. You can also visit Udawattekale forest reserve. Situated 1868m above sea level, the climate of Nuwaraeliya is colder when compared to the rest of the regions in this tropical island. Hiring a vehicle is the best way to travel to Nuwaraeliya because that will allow you to make multiple stops along the way and grasp the splendour of the sceneries you pass by. You will come across many divine waterfalls and tea estates. You will be passing by many tea factories with rest stops where you can enjoy a warm cup of tea while soaking in the cold breeze that will sweep past you. Day 1 – Anuradhapura

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Tickets

The purpose of the Elephant orphanage is to help the orphaned baby elephants and also the adult elephants by providing them a helping hand, thus it should be noted that we at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage charge an entrance fee. The funds collected from the tickets will be used solely for the purpose of uplifting the lifestyle of the orphaned elephants and for the maintenance of the orphanage.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Bathing time

The bathing time is a beautiful and a heartwarming sight to witness. You will be able to see the entire heard been guided to the river by their foster fathers at the orphanage to have their daily bath to keep the clean and chilled in this warm weather. Amongst other heart filled moments you will also be able to enjoy baby elephants having a dip and playing in the water.

The time schedule of the Bathing Hours is as follows;

How to get to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

The Elephant Orphanage is situated in the Village of Pinnawala hence giving its name, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The village is so popular for the orphanage so much so that the name Pinnawala is synonymous with elephants amongst the locals of Sri Lanka.

Pinnawala is a village situated in the Kegalle District of Sri Lanka in the Central Province. The closest main city to Kegalle is Kandy which is about 40kms away and you can reach the orphanage in about an hours’ time. If however you are planning to get to the orphanage directly from the Bandaranayke airport it will take about two hours for you to reach your destination as it is situated 75kms away from the airport.
