Day – 1 Sigiriya and Dambulla
Your 1 week in Sri Lanka starts in Sigiriya rock located in Matale is another glorious tourist attraction. This site was selected by King Kashyapa as his capital. Due to its unique palace structure, highly imaginative site plan which is considered as one of the most important urban planning sites of the first millennium, the gardens of Sigiriya which are considered as one of the oldest landscaped gardens in the world, also the mirror wall, the decorative frescoes etc, it is described as the 8th wonder of the world and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 2 & 3 – Kandy and Nuwara Eliya
To head towards upcountry, the tourists can catch a train from Colombo and take the Main Line to Badulla. The Main Line passes through Kandy, the city of the ancient Royalty. It is also renowned as a world heritage site as the city holds the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic. Touring Kandy in the month of July and August would present the tourists with the annual Esala Perehara which is known as the grandest Buddhist festival held in Sri Lanka and one of the most beautiful pageants in the world. As the train makes its steep climb from Rambukkana onwards, the winds turn chilly and the view gradually transforms into scenic tea estates, valleys, waterfalls, lakes etc. The ride over the Demodara Nine Arch Bridge is one exciting moment that everyone eagerly awaits in this trip.
